Tarpon Run & Beach Snook
May 14, 2015
The Tarpon are here. A little Earlier than usual, but we will all take it! I walked the beaches in search of a few lonely tarpon that may have cruised up skinny. I saw a few in casting range, they were rolling and gone before I had my Fly out to them. I did find a few solo snook, slot size, cruising the beaches lazily swallowing up small bait fish. It was too clear, too public, and just too easy to attempt a strike. I through my white schminnow from @stizzlack in perfect leading direction, ran it across their noses with no response, almost as if I was the 1,456th cast that had come at them. Sometimes it is like that, sometimes the bite is hot and on fire, I still enjoyed watching them cruise. It is still early being May, but I am glad on any boring day, I can grab my rod, walk around and have a few shots at a translucent mirror like beast.
