A quick report as we endure another winter here in FL. A weak front is expected to pass through this weekend with some wind but spring-like conditions abound as we head into mid-January. The air temps in the 70s and water temps hovering in the mid to upper 60s has resulted in some outstanding days on the water.
The snook have been on fire and days of 20 or 30 fish in a half day is not uncommon, especially around the good tides. The trout bite is still going strong with larger individual fish patrolling the shallows and smaller ones schooled up on the edges and dropoffs. There are some nice redfish being caught, as well as tasty sheepshead that we are plucking off the docks and rockpiles.
For you nature lovers, there is always an abundance of other wildlife to view as well with herons, pelicans and ospreys usually fishing right along side us. We're also seeing lots of dolphin and manatee. Both are very inquisitive and often come right up to and under the boat making for a very cool encounter and even some great selfie's! If you haven't had a chance to take advantage of the outstanding fishing, at least get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. There is no better therapy in the world! Until next time…Tight Lines.
